Getting Started with ImageIsland
It's easy to get started with ImageIsland. Once installed in your website, just open a web browser, type in your website address and path to the ImageIsland folder, and you can start using the product online immediately. You will quickly see the interface and web design is very simple. Most of the navigational elements are clickable dropdown elements. And the flexible layout is designed for maximizing the display of your photos and photo galleries online. All features and functions inside ImageIsland are limited to a handful of icons and toolsets. You want to get to your photos, right? With its simple thumbnail viewer and clickable photo galleries, you will find ImageIsland is easier to use than any photo gallery software out there. In addition, the homepage design shown to the right is 100% customizable! You can even add your galleries to the homepage, hide or show panels and toolbars, or paste in your own custom HTML into the homepage area. We even provide a secure administration tool to help you manage all these areas of the product, including CSS skinning, homepage and panel layouts. Even if you need more control, we provide full source code so you can change the product as you like.
Uploading Images and Photos to Your Website
Uploading photos to your personal website has never been easier. Using a simple upload web page inside ImageIsland, you can start uploading photos directly to your website. The ImageManager in ImageIsland allows you to view and manage, as well as upload, photos to your website. In the upload area, you will see ten upload fields, and a photo submit button. Simply choose photos, graphics, images and photos you wish to upload by clicking "browse" buttons, then clicking "upload images" to upload photos from your computer to the server. Please be patient while your photos upload to your site. The upload page will refresh the page and will then generate thumbnails for all your photos automatically. The new photo images are now in the ImageManager Module and ready for viewing and sharing! We also sell a special module called the ImageBtacher. This new module allows you to use FTP to upload thousands of images to your server. You can then use the ImageBatcher to go through all your folders of images uploaded to the server and add them into the product in large quantities. You can see a live demo here.
Managing Your Photo Gallery Online
As mentioned above, the ImageManager allows you to manage your photo gallery over the Web. Some of the things you can do with your photos include: Uploading, editing, deleting, resizing, rescaling, rotating, naming, and viewing. You can also grow your online photo gallery as large as you need, using this powerful module. A special paging system built into the viewer in this module will allow you to manage thousands of photos and galleries easily, and allow you to quickly surf through dozens of images at any time. Different views and sorting features also make viewing your photos and photo galleries a fast and efficient (and fun) process.
New! Organizing Photos and Galleries with Folders and Groups
With ImageIsland 3.0, we have added a complete Folder and Group Photo Management system, so now you can organize and manage all your photo galleries using a handy folder tree system (or logically using our group or category image system). You can move files from folder to folder, edit folders, and create new subfolders. The same applies to Groups. With groups, you can also add instances of the same image to multiple groups. Your users have their own private folders and groups, all of which you, as Global Administrator, can now control in ImageIsland. Your users can safely create and manage all their private photo galleries, folders, and groups right from your website without affecting your own galleries, groups, and folders. If you are used to managing lots of photos and galleries on your PC or Mac using folders, you will love this new website feature!
Sharing Your HTML Photo Gallery Online
Sharing your images albums and photo galleries online with ImageIsland is done using image web pages. This is the cool new way to organize photo galleries. Think of a photo web page as an "image album", or "HTML photo gallery". A new feature, called ImageWebPages, allows you to create these photo gallery pages and share then online with others. You can create an unlimited number of these HTML photo galleries in the ImageWebPage Module. Once you create a gallery page, you assign photos stored in your library to these web pages. You can assign any photos you like to these gallery pages and create these HTML albums, or web photography galleries this way. Each page can be assigned one of 10 different cool web templates or design layouts. These include clickable thumbnails, photoboxes, next-previous slideshows, and even a mobile page for viewing over phones and handhelds. Combining these special web page galleries and slideshows with your photos allows you to get creative with how different sets of images and galleries are displayed. ImageIsland even includes a master homepage gallery page, so you can share all your pages online from one homepage gallery view. You can also control how these albums are seen online by sending links to these gallery pages by email to your users, or placing links from your website pages to these special image web pages. ImageIsland creates all the HTML for you, so your HTML image galleries are ready for viewing online. Anyone with a web browser and a connection to the World Wide Web can see your web photo galleries by simply clicking a link to one of your image web pages!
Distributing these photo gallery pages can be fun, too. As mentioned above, you can send links to these web pages. In the email, your users simply click the link to view the gallery page. The best way to share your "image web pages" is to simply link to them from your main website. You can easily copy the links to these web pages and create that same link inside your main website. You can also copy the path to your online photos in these pages and paste those into your main page as photos. In this way, you can manage all your photo galleries and albums using ImageIsland, but share and distribute them using the Web and your current website.
Setting Up Photo Gallery User Logins
The Security Feature in ImageIsland is another very important module. This module allows you to decide which modules in your product are accessible by outside users, and if private, which users can manage photo galleries using a login. You are always given a Global Administrator account so have ultimate control over who sees what in the product. A special hidden login area appears once you make modules private, and allows you to require a user login to access them. Users assigned to the ImageManager and ImageWebPage Modules can even login and upload, manage, and share their own photos and photo galleries, without your assistance. In this way, you can turn your website into an Public Photo Portal! You can then create logins for as many as 10 separate users, and allow the whole family, group of friends, or select set of customers the ability to upload and share their photos and webpage galleries with you and the world through your website. Modules & Skins
All functionality and design in ImageIsland is controlled by two special areas in ImageIsland: Modules and Skins. Modules provide different types of functionality and feature sets in the product. The look-and-feel of the product is completely controlled by CSS and cascading style sheet Skins. These skins allow you to choose different website designs for your pages and control how the overall interface looks to you and your users online. Combined, modules and skins give you complete control over ImageIsland and all its assets.

Easy Photo Gallery Website Installation
To install ImageIsland, all you need is a website and a connection to the Internet. There is no database to install, no plugins, and no desktop software to worry about. Once you have your website and server setup correctly, you are ready to install the photo gallery product. ImageIsland consists of folders and web pages. So to install it on your site, simply upload (or FTP) the ImageIsland folder to your web server. That's it! You are now ready to start adding your photos and creating galleries. Simply open a web browser, surf to your ImageIsland folder in your site, and start uploading images immediately!
